NEW MOON IN CANCER JULY 9, 2021: HEALING THE HOME & CHILDHOOD WOUNDS

Updated: Sep 11, 2021

Happy New Moon in Cancer! This New Moon becomes exact on Friday, July 9 at 9:16 PM New York time (01:16 GMT on July 10).

With the moon exalted in its own sign of Cancer conjunct the sun, we have what usually is one of the most introverted lunations of the year; however, with Venus and Mars conjunct in bold, flashy, and extroverted Leo--and Uranus in Taurus trining the moon and sun, we are being asked to find a balance between our inner 'safe-place' and who we are in the world.

Cancer is a cardinal water sign that is represented by the crab and ruled by the moon. The crab likes to explore the beach at its own pace; however, whenever it feels threatened or overchallenged it retreats back into the safety of its shell. In its shell, it feels nurtured and safe. One of the downfalls of Cancer is that it can be fearful, hermit-like, or overly defensive.

When eventually we reach the upper levels of the third dimension and into the fifth dimension, there isn't as much of a reason anymore for the 'lower' emotions like sadness, anger, and jealousy; however, for now, here in the third dimension, it's part of our mission as part of our Ascension processes to honor all emotions within, rather than pushing them away or judging them.

What is it like to just feel an uncomfortable emotion? To just sit with it for a moment? To remove judgment from it and just let it be? The truth is that when we push away uncomfortable emotions within, we only make the Shadow aspect within (which could be said to be the projection of the amalgam of the unhealed/unfelt/unexpressed parts of self) stronger.

Allow the Shadow self to be, to exist. Allow the uncomfortable/inconvenient emotions to pop up once in awhile, and give them the time of day to be felt and honored. You'll find if you do this that your overall experience of life will become more satisfying. The happy times become more sustainable when the Shadow within is honored.

Cancer is also the sign of the Divine Feminine—it naturally enjoys mothering and nurturing. It is the womb of the Zodiac. During Cancer season, we strongly desire to be nurtured and to nurture others. It is the time to connect with the feminine/moon aspects of life in all ways, and with water.

We also may naturally feel more emotionally reactive during Cancer season. Cancer/the moon rules emotions. As human beings, we are here to experience a whole range of emotions. All emotions are valid; it's just that each emotion is at a different frequency. Our soul puts us here to experience the whole range of emotions here in the third dimension.

Cancer, which is the fourth sign of the Zodiac wheel (and also the fourth house), is associated with the home—including your living environment, the people you live with, and your family of origin. We feel a natural call during Cancer season to come home in all ways that that may be. Some people may feel called to travel to or reconnect with their family of origin. Some may put effort into improving the look and feel of their physical home. Others may go camping or hiking in the woods in order to re-establish the feeling of being home with Mother Earth. Or you might find yourself doing all three!

Let's discuss some other aspects of home as it relates to Cancer season and your journey of self-actualization.

WHAT DOES HOME MEAN FOR YOU?

Cancer is the nurturing homebody of the Zodiac. It is the oasis that the more explorative signs like Sagittarius and Aries come home to to anchor, ground and build. Regardless of your birth chart, it is the perfect time to contemplate what home means to you.

Is your current home environment providing you what you need to grow and expand? Are the people you are spending the most time with supporting your highest evolution?

If you don't feel like your current home environment is providing you with what you need to grow, then what kind of home environment do you desire? Who is there with you (or are you alone)? What does the scenery look like? How does it feel?

If you feel like your ideal home life is a lot different than your current home life, then what steps can you take starting with this New Moon to start the process of manifesting your dream? If your home isn't really working for you but you don't desire to or are not in the position to change locales, then what could be done to improve your relationship with those with whom you live? Could you perhaps be more tolerant and less emotionally reactive without letting yourself get walked over or disrespected? Could you be a little bit more open to interacting in ways or on topics that aren't necessarily 'home' for you. Sometimes, asking the question, “What are you interested in?” can really transform an uncomfortable relationship.

Home also has to do with the home that is your body and mind. What would it feel like to surrender completely to the experiencing of being in your body, even if you are in chronic physical discomfort like so many Lightworkers are on this journey? What would it feel like if your mind was a source of comfort and peace rather than distraction, worry or confusion? How could you do a better job of making yourself feel safe regardless of what is going on in the outside world?

Take whatever steps you can over the next 28 days to bring greater balance to your body, and make mental peace and clarity a priority. Meditation, breathwork, yoga, tai chi, and nature walks/swims are really good ways to give your nervous system a feeling of safety.

Targeted supplements and nutrition for the brain are crucial if you are not experiencing peace in the mind, however, meditation is truly irreplaceable. It would be of tremendous benefit to all Lightworkers to incorporate at least five minutes of daily meditation into their routines (ideally more!). The meditation can be any type you'd like!

VENUS & MARS TOGETHER/FIXED T-SQUARE/URANUS'S INFLUENCE

Venus and Mars are together in a close conjunction in the sign of Leo right now. When people do come out of their shells right now, they are showing off the flashy parts of their personality! Single people are likely to feel called to seek out a partner during this time, while existing couples are likely to want to find ways to 'mix things up' and create some newfound excitement in the relationship.

We have a strong T-square in this chart between Saturn, Uranus, and the Venus/Mars conjunction. Saturn is still Retrograde in Aquarius and Uranus in Taurus. This T-square is between all fixed signs, so it is an especially stubborn aspect. This aspect can bring frustration and obstacles to long-term projects and long-term relationships. Remember though that we always have free will and are not in any way bound by astrology.

The empty leg of a T-square always presents the solution to the tension that the T-square causes. In this instance the empty leg lies in Scorpio. Scorpio is a very determined energy; it utilizes passion in order to break through obstacles. So the lesson here is that you shouldn't let uncomfortable or inconvenient obstacles stop you from creating, succeeding, and manifesting your projects and dreams. In long-term relationships, a renewal of sexual passion (another Scorpio energy) may be the solution to relationship troubles.

Uranus has a big role in this New Moon chart; it also trines the New Moon and the sun. Often, Uranus can play the role of troublemaker in a lunation chart, but in this chart it plays an uplifting role. It helps us to think outside of the box and to be creative in our endeavors. This would be a great time to download new ideas for your business, to create new art, or to change up your wardrobe.

CHIRON STATION: CHILDHOOD WOUNDS COMING UP FOR HEALING

Chiron (the wounded healer) is currently exalted as it slows down during its Station phase in Aries. It forms a wide square to the moon and sun. With this aspect, we feel a pressure within to do inner work and to heal parental wounds.

Chiron is the midst of a long transit in Martian Aries, where its focus continues to be on addressing inner woundings caused by the harshness, coldness, and disconnectedness of the Shadow Masculine. In its square to this feminine Cancer New Moon, we feel a call to heal wounds that were caused by the relationship between our parents and how our fragile child selves felt about the way they related to each other.

Here are some questions to journal on to assist you in healing these wounds. A forewarning, that some of these may evoke emotion. I suggest that if emotions come up, feel them deeply and authentically, as I wrote about earlier in this article. Allow the emotion to be felt fully, then to pass.

  • What are the most traumatic memories from my childhood relationship with my parents? (I know that many of you were not raised in a 'traditional' two-parent home. If this is the case for you, then take into account both your relationships with your birth parents, as well as your relationships with whoever played parental roles in your childhood and teenage years, like stepparents, grandparents, or aunts/uncles.)

  • Why are these the most traumatic memories? In what ways did I feel unsafe, unnurtured, unloved, unappreciated, or misunderstood?

  • How would I have parented myself if I had gotten to play the roles of my parents or those who raised me?

  • Are there parts of me that feel resentments toward my parents or those who raised me? If so, what do these parts of me need in order to let go of these resentments? Do I feel 'safe' without these resentments?

  • In what situations/with which people in my life do I act childish? If I were to act more maturely, what does a part of me feel that it would lose?

  • Who do I want to be in order to give my children the best chance at being mature, whole, happy, and healthy (if you don't have kids yet but want to, then think of your future kids; if you don't want kids or your kids are already grown up, then think of how you would want to model an aspect of a 'New Earth Ascended Adult' that kids could look up to as a positive role model).

  • What does my Inner Child need (and want) from me that I haven't been giving him or her lately?

  • What sorts of activities nurture my Inner Child? Could I make more time for these activities?

  • Does my current lifestyle allow for flexibility and spontaneity? How could I make more time for flexibility and spontaneity?

NEPTUNE TRINES THE MOON, OPENING UP OUR PSYCHIC ABILITIES

Dreamy, psychic and intuitive Neptune is currently traveling Retrograde in its home sign of Pisces; it forms a wide trine to the New Moon (and sun). This aspect activates our psychic abilities, especially clairsentience with the moon being in Cancer, which rules the feeling body. Pay attention to your feelings, intuitive hits, visions, and dreams during this time.

Keeping a journal of your intuitive hits and dreams (and then going back later on and reviewing what you wrote) is a really good way to sharpen your intuition! Doing this, you will learn in what ways you receive accurate intutive hits and also in what ways you receive false information masquerading as intuition.

Please understand that developing a strong, reliable intuition takes years, if not decades, so be patient with yourself!

Wishing you a happy, healthy and healing New Moon in Cancer.

With Love,

Matthew John
